Essential Oil Spotlight: Ylang Ylang

I have my Tranquility Blend in my diffuser again--for those that missed my FB post last week it is:

2 drops Ylang Ylang EO

1 drop Grapefruit EO

Ylang Ylang (Cananga Odorata) is comes from the steam distillation of fresh flowers from the Ylang Ylang tree, which is native to rain forests on Asian and South Pacific islands.

Ylang Ylang is the basis in Chanel No. 5! Coco Chanel chose it to include in her iconic perfume to give it an elevated scent that was unlike any other perfume available at the time.

So, what is Ylang Ylang good for, besides smelling amazing absolutely marvelous?

Antidepressant - it fights depression by relaxing both the body and soul. It is uplifting to the spirit, creating feelings of hope and joy.
